Dr. Joseph Waterhouse is an extremely thorough and empathetic Podiatrist, Foot & Ankle Surgeon that has dedicated his life to medicine and academia. Originally from Massapequa, he has a close connection with his fellow New Yorkers and Long Islanders with deeply embedded roots in his local communities.

Dr. Waterhouse received his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, graduating in the top 3% of his class earning multiple academic scholarships and awards. He additionally acted as a designated tutor for nearly every medical course available and has vast experience in group and private lecturing.

Dr. Waterhouse went on to complete his surgical residency training at Long Island Jewish Medical Center and North Shore University Hospital acting as the academic coordinator. During his residency, Dr. Waterhouse completed extensive training including foot and ankle trauma, arthroscopic surgery, elective surgery, reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, and limb salvage. He additionally founded his own web-based academic course to assist young doctors in preparation for their surgical board examinations.

One of his greatest passions is dealing with sports related injuries at the foot and ankle level. As a former baseball player throughout high school and collegiate recruiting, Dr. Waterhouse has a deep understanding of the mental and physical toll recurrent or nagging injuries can have on the elite athlete. Conservative treatment approached correctly and in a timely fashion can often improve an individual's level of function. Only when all options are exhausted, does Dr. Waterhouse consider surgical intervention and is extremely accustomed to reconstructive foot and ankle procedures (i.e. ligament repair, arthroscopy).

In addition to being a member of Nassau Foot & Ankle, Dr. Waterhouse also works with a multispecialty sports medicine group - New York Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation, with offices in Astoria Queens (718-274-7300) and Brooklyn Heights (718-852-4300).

Dr. Waterhouse also has substantial experience in treating patients with Worker's Compensation, No Fault (Motor Vehicle Accidents), and Liability cases. He is extremely comfortable with all aspects of treatment, including depositions and legal proceedings.

Dr. Waterhouse has multiple academic hospital appointments including Northwell Long Island Jewish Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital, NSUH-Syosset Hospital, LIJ-Valley Stream, LIJ-Forest Hills. He also currently acts as the Director of Podiatry for Rockaway Ambulatory Surgical Center at Rockaway Beach, NY. He is dual licensed to practice in both the state of New York and New Jersey.

Dr. Waterhouse is a member of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery, and is an Associate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
